Yeyo Moroder - Hypnos Vol. One

"This album was created between 2017 and 2018, it is just a few selected improvisations works recorded in my small studio, where I also work as a visual artist.

The gear is simple, as it always has been. I'm not interested in technology as a spearhead of innovation, but rather as something that happens to be there, accessible. I do not care about
models and brands, softwares or programming languages.

What I use is what I find, what is given to me, what I keep for emotional reasons: some fxs, loopers and samplers, my cell phone, small instruments and trinkets, sounds that I record from my surroundings, my old guitar and my old computer... What interests me the most is the aesthetic experience of creating instant music. Through improvisation this experience is enhanced to a very deep level as a result of a confrontation between chance and the emotional dimension of the musician.

For an atheist/skeptic like me, music and art occupy a religious place in my life, as an ancestral source of spiritual wealth. These compositions are full of textures, colors, arrhythmias and dissonances, as well as harmonies that get entangled among repetitive, hypnotic patterns. Many of these "drones" were listened in my headphones when sleeping time was about to start as a research expecting an influence in my dreams, thats why the tracks titles go in that context.

The album title was decided after reading ‘Hypnos’ by H.P. Lovecraft, where a mysterious character, artist by the way, tells about unspeakable trips and visions in the coldest chasms of the Cosmos that drag him into the madness feeling fearfull of falling asleep."
Yeyo Moroder

"May the merciful gods, if they do exist, protect those hours in which no power of will, nor
drugs invented by the ingenuity of man, can keep me from the abyss of sleep!"
H..P. Lovecraft

“About the dream, that sinister adventure of
all our nights, we could say that the
men go to bed daily with an incomprehensible boldness,
if we did not know that it is because of ignorance of danger.” Baudelaire
